Green Commitment

Dean Transportation takes great pride in providing eco-friendly transportation solutions. In 2009, Dean Transportation, in partnership with the Greater Lansing Clean Cities Coalition, was awarded a grant to retrofit vehicles with diesel oxidation catalyst, closed crankcase ventilation systems, fuel operated heaters and to purchase hybrid school buses.

Dean has retrofitted 251 buses with Diesel Oxidation Catalysts and replaced four buses with hybrid electric buses, resulting in 15-20% fuel efficiency over diesel buses in urban areas. For its efforts and commitment to eco-friendly transportation, Dean was awarded the 2009 Corporate Clean Transportation Leadership Award from the Clean Cities Coalitions of Michigan.

In July, 2010 Dean Transportation received GOLD Level Green Fleet Certification from the National School Transportation Association for its efforts in working toward a cleaner environment through use of technology and environmentally responsible practices.

Dean Transportation continues to be on the cutting edge of eco-friendly transportation by experimenting with equipment, investing in new technology, partnering with local universities and non-profits, and providing environmental education throughout the community.
